When global lockdowns brought travel to a standstill in 2020, the tourism industry faced an unprecedented challenge. With flights grounded and borders closed, the risk was not just lost bookings, but disappearing from people’s imaginations altogether.
Tourism Ireland needed to remain present in a world where physical travel was impossible. The objective was simple but delicate. Stay visible without encouraging movement, and inspire without promising immediacy.
We led the creative development of a new influencer model built for lockdown conditions. Rather than flying creators to Ireland, we reimagined what influence could mean when travel was restricted. If people could not come to Ireland, Ireland would come to them.
The Remote Influencer concept paired creators with Irish locations through live direction, archive footage, and real time collaboration. Influencers experienced the landscape, stories, and atmosphere from their own homes, guided virtually by local voices and imagery. The content focused on mood, memory, and anticipation rather than instruction or promotion.
This approach allowed Tourism Ireland to continue telling authentic destination stories while respecting global restrictions. It kept Ireland culturally present during a moment of pause, ensuring that when travel returned, the desire to visit had not faded.
The work demonstrated how creativity can adapt under constraint, turning limitation into a new way of connecting people with place.
